Bad Blonde: Review

Barbara Payton, who starred in the newpapers as often as she did in movies, headlines this weak melodrama made in England. Payton is the knockout spouse of Valk, a heavyweight prizefight manager. Valk handles Wright, who turns the lady on. She tells the young palooka that she's pregnant and that they have to get rid of her husband. They do this by drowning him. His mother suspects the worst and confronts Payton, who admits that she is not expecting. Wright can't take the pressure and confesses. Payton, living up to the title of the film, kills him with poison. The picture smacks of the truth, though, with a bit of the 1927 Snyder-Gray case and a few others as background. Handled by a different production team and cast with different stars, this might have made some noise. leave a comment
