Maudlin early talkie starring Griffith as a country girl who leaves her dull boy friend and heads for the big city to become the concubine of a wealthy war profiteer. She still loves the boy she left behind, even after he is blinded during a battle in WW I. After the doctors announce the soldier boy has only weeks to live, Griffith convinces her sugar daddy to let her marry the poor bumpkin before he croaks. She marries, he dies, she dumps the profiteer and goes off a better person for it. A real tear-jerker that may have been better off silent. leave a comment
