A sweet trifle. J.C. Wiatt (Diane Keaton) is a high-powered business executive in Manhattan who lives for her job. Her life is turned upside down, however, when she inherits a baby girl from distant relatives who have been killed. Saying good-bye to the New York rat race, she moves to a
farmhouse and discovers the simple life. The problem is that it isn't all that simple for a city girl. While the script is often trite, Keaton turns in her best comic performance since MANHATTAN; Sam Wanamaker is superb as her boss; and Sam Shepard, Keaton's new love in the story, has all the
down-home, earthy qualities one would expect from Gary Cooper.
