In this silly attempt at satire, the ladies of a harem go on strike and the Arabian Knights get annoyed at the lack of action. So do viewers. Paulette Goddard (by this time divorced from Chaplin and remarried to Erich Maria Remarque) was 41 when she made this and already over the hill.
Gypsy Rose Lee (as the joke goes, we hardly recognize her with her clothes on) demonstrates a knack for snappy repartee but hardly has enough to do. Richard Ney, who plays real-life wife Greer Garson's son in MRS. MINIVER, is boring here.
