Sterling is a G-man who goes undercover as an inmate sharing a cell with the deadly Dailey. Sterling, as part of a government plan, organizes a prison break so the FBI can capture the rest of Dailey's powerful gang. As Mr. Hoover would have it, the gang is bullet-ridden by the
sharp-shooting agents in a predictable but exciting finale. The film marked the first screen appearance of Reed, the farm-fed beauty who developed into a leading lady for almost two decades and who won an Oscar for her role as the prostitute Alma in FROM HERE TO ETERNITY in 1953.
