In the South Pacific during WW II, hardened Navy captain Jeb Hawks (Jeff Chandler) trains a bunch of green sailors on the attack transport USS Belinda. To keep his men from fighting among themselves, Hawks plays the role of a self-centered, elitist snob, prompting the sailors to direct their anger at him.
