In this better-than-average action offering, Dudikoff is the hero, a retired Secret Service agent who has been taking care of his sister since the murder of their parents. His old comrade, James, a black senatorial candidate in Louisiana, is being opposed by the Pentangle, a group of wealthy, right-wing extremists and survivalists. Their early attempt to kill James at a Mardi Gras parade fails, thanks to Dudikoff. The Pentangle leaders, including Ryan, are much impressed with Hunter's fighting abilities but don't intend to give up that easily. Director Firstenberg has directed several action films for Cannon and brings to this project a skilled hand at action scenes. Dudikoff is also good. The villains steal the show, though, with Ryan taking top honors as an old-fashioned villain who lacks only a moustache to twirl. The silliness of the hunt, however, detracts from the film. Hardly one of the best films of the year but one that delivers what it promises, good action without too much stupidity. Bland and Gordon are bookies with an unusual, slightly illegal method of picking winners at the racetrack. When big-time gamblers force them to leave the city, they find a smaller town with a racetrack and go back into business, encountering a few of the local crazies and a few wacky escapades. Bland, a smooth-talking con man, and Gordon, his energetic partner, enliven an otherwise average comedy. The plot is simplistic, the characters and situations predictable, but the comic skills of the two, along with Mune's light directorial touch, make this an enjoyable little entertainment. leave a comment
