Futuristic tale of an atomic sub sailing to the North Pole to investigate disappearances of freight and passenger submarines in the area. A cyclops space monster with myriad tentacles living in an underwater saucer and bent on conquering the world is what the crew members find. In a good special-effects battle, the invader is destroyed. The internecine battles of crew members do little to enhance the basic story which is also muddied by overuse of news clips of atomic subs (one of which is shown passing the same iceberg several times). One script error has atomic scientists referring to the magnetic and geographical North poles as one and the same. A nevertheless entertaining sci-fi thriller. leave a comment
