Hard-hitting espionage thriller has Andrews as a reporter assigned to the Budapest office of the New York Herald Tribune by editor Sanders to help fellow reporter Toren support a story that Hungarian government plotters are trying to make a deal with Yugoslav president Tito to overthrow the communist dictatorship. Andrews finds that an American businessman has been arrested as a spy and has died in prison but not before leaving a photo showing Tito conferring with the plotters.
