Epic western originally intended for Gary Cooper became Holden's first horse opera which is built mostly around Arthur as Tucson's first female citizen, a hellcat who bests bad men at every turn. Holden appears as a wanderer heading for California, catching Arthur's eye and winning her heart so that she abandons her breeches for dresses, but she can't turn him from his wanderlust. He departs and she throws herself into the task of establishing a freight line which William and Hall attempt to destroy. But Holden returns to help Arthur battle the villains.
