The film plays fast and loose with the 1880s stories by British explorer Sir Richard Burton, but this version of the Arabian Nights is nevertheless filled with action and rich with color. The legal heir to the throne of the Caliph, played by Jon Hall, is attacked and almost murdered by his evil brother, played by Leif Erickson, who seizes the throne.
