Marketed as though it were an ALADDIN knockoff, ARABIAN KNIGHT is actually a welcome, vigorous alternative to Disney animation. Based on THE THIEF OF BAGHDAD, this pet project of ROGER RABBIT animator Richard Williams has been in the works since 1968. One can only imagine Williams's despair when he got wind that ALADDIN was on the horizon; it's to his credit that he soldiered on nonetheless.
