This moody western was produced by Val Lewton, who was better known for such horror classics as I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE and CAT PEOPLE. The plot involves the efforts of a group of settlers who defend the town of Spanish Boot from a lengthy Indian attack. The standout battle sequence, with the citizens holed up in the town church, shows off Lewton's penchant for evocative lighting. Worth a look. leave a comment
