ANIMAL INSTINCTS 2 is predicated on the notion that nymphomania is less a psychological ailment than a really nice way to meet the neighbors. Filled with promiscuity, bisexuality, and voyeurism, this heavy-breather barely goes through the thriller motions; its real interest lies in
crafting a cinematic salute to fornication.
Troubled Jo (Shannon Whirry) ends an abusive relationship, cashes in her jewelry, and settles in suburbia, where people are supposed to be normal. When she runs out of funds, she gets a job assisting Eric (Al Sapienza), a hunky photographer of Penthouse-type layouts.
But Jo can't escape her animal instincts, no matter how much suntan oil she rubs on herself. Married neighbor Steve (Woody Brown) is a gorgeous security equipment expert who's dissatisfied with his lovely, docile wife Katherine (Elizabeth Sandifer) and installs bugging devices and secret cameras
in the homes of his unsuspecting clients. Steve can have sex with his wife only after viewing the secret tapes. When Jo spots a camera in her boudoir and learns that it wasn't planted by either her ex-boyfriend or over-attentive handyman/landlord, what little reserve she has vanishes. Turned on by
the thought that Steve is her audience, Jo haunts bars to pick up sex partners. When one bedmate turns nasty, Steve rushes over to the rescue, which makes Katherine suspect that he's being unfaithful.
Jo is tempted to sleep with Steve, but changes her mind after meeting Katherine. Enraged at being rejected, the sadistic Steve beats Eric to a pulp, to which Jo responds by telling newly pregnant Katherine about Steve's kinky video hobby. Steve is picked up outside Jo's home as he stalks her
with a gun. The film ends with Jo contemplating a lasting romantic merger with her boss and Katherine trying to decide whether she should give Steve a second chance when he finishes his prison sentence.
ANIMAL INSTINCTS II is an average straight-to-video erotic thriller. There isn't any mystery, and there are few thrills of any kind other than sexual. But there are plenty of those. Accessorized with the colorful trappings of escalating S&M, voyeuristic sex, and all-night bar cruising, ANIMAL
INSTINCTS 2 is cleavage-obsessed and features a slew of hardbodied lovers doing what they do best. The erotic scenes are hot enough to keep viewers hooked through drab exposition and the endless whining of the lead characters, and fans are bound to appreciate the ambiguous ending, in which the
