Good performances can't save this insipid tale of a priest and a prostitute, Bogarde and Gardner, who are thrown together in the midst of the Spanish Civil War. Bogarde has had a lapse of faith and has turned in his collar to help the Falangist rebels. On the way he meets and falls for good-hearted, patriotic hooker Gardner.
