Jens, a mute, has her speech restored by faith healer Hamilton, and becomes a healer herself. After being exploited by unscrupulous Reynolds and labeled a fake, Jens heals a lame child, and her faith is restored. Melodramatic southern gothic aided by good performances from both veterans
and newcomers, and fine photography from Wexler.
