A good adult story for kids, set in ancient Rome. Animal lover Young removes a thorn from the beast of the title and later meets the same animal in a Roman arena, where captured Christians are the day's entree. The secondary story line is about the ill-fated love between Simmons and Mature. This loose adaptation of G.B. Shaw's play makes a pleasant enough studio picture, and is a rare opportunity to see the playwright's work on screen. leave a comment
