This British murder mystery concerns a young writer, Marlowe, accused of killing his ex-mistress, whom he hated. Enter the detective, Kieling, who is not fully convinced of the writer's guilt. Due to pressure from his superiors, the detective is forced to wrap up the case quickly, but he
and the writer's wife, von Schell, continue the investigation after hours. Eventually one of the dead woman's lovers appears to be the actual murderer, and the writer's wife allows herself to be used as bait to catch him. Typical mystery/thriller stuff made special by Kieling's performance as the
tough-guy detective.
