German musical spectacular based on Greek mythology, starring French performers. Lavish production surrounds the story of Alcmene (Boitel), who longs for the return of her husband, Amphitryon (Garat), from war. The god Jupiter (also played by Garat) notices the lovely mortal woman and
descends to Earth in human form to seduce her. Alcmene almost succumbs to the disguised god's charms, but she is saved because Jupiter drinks too much and passes out before they can consummate the affair. Jupiter's wife, Juno, comes to Earth and drags her husband back to Olympus. A slightly
cumbersome film, but good for mythology buffs.
