The American Soldier

The third part of Fassbinder's gangster trilogy, said to have been shot in 10 days, SOLDIER is the story of an American Vietnam vet of German descent who returns to his native Munich as a hired killer. Three policemen have retained his services to eliminate a number of "undesirables" they have a quarrel with. Through a series of events the mercenary ends up killing the girl friend of one of the corrupt cops. A gunfight ensues between the soldier, who is aided by his friend Franz (played by Fassbinder), and the cops.
