This unassuming tribute to pioneering disc jockey Alan Freed is a celebration of the early days of rock and roll that manages to recreate the excitement of similar movies from the late 1950s. Tim McIntire's portrayal of Freed is particularly energetic, but naturally the music dominates. Guest appearances by Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
