Set in the seedy milieu of Manhattan's Lower East Side, this film deals with Spano, a small-time neighborhood drug kingpin who lives in a chic loft with his wife, Vernon, and their baby. Aided by his drug-addicted friend Winslow, Spano makes the rounds of the hot night spots in the area,
selling dope and collecting extortion money for his bosses. A dilemma intrudes when the mob orders him to torch the building where his mother and sister live. Although visually very slick, the plot and characters are dull and insipid. The audience is given no reason whatsoever even to watch these
people, let alone to care about them.
