Aside from the two central characters--Dog Heaven denizen Charlie Barkin (voice of Charlie Sheen) and earthbound buddy Itchy Itchiford (voice of Dom DeLuise)--there's precious little connection between this sequel and Don Bluth's much-praised 1989 original. But ALL
DOGS 2 is nonetheless a pleasant surprise, generally witty, adroitly voiced and beautifully animated (the clean lines and painterly backgrounds owe a lot to the best of recent Japanimation). The sole drawback is a kitschy, derivative song score. Note to parents: Why not skip Disney's shrewdly
timed rerelease of OLIVER & COMPANY and give someone else a shot at your kids' attention spans?
