The title stranger is model Kathy Ireland, who plays a mousy Valley girl whose dull life changes when she heads to Africa to locate her explorer father. Both of them fall into a pit and find themselves in a lost city somewhere in the center of the Earth, populated by totalitarian descendants of space aliens.
