Few men have longed for a cape and tights as desperately as former Superman Dean Cain must have after starring in this tepid B-thriller. Cain plays Bob Valenz, a straight-arrow businessman whose younger brother Paul (Richard Chevolleau) runs afoul of criminal Vic Haddock (Eric Roberts on bad-guy autopilot) after unwittingly stealing a large sum of drug money. Vic sends Camille (Lexa Doig), a temptress with a secret past, to ferret out the culprit and charm him into giving up the cash. Camille's charms prove all too potent, as she seduces both brothers, with deadly consequences for one. What follows is suspense-by-numbers of the blandest variety, punctuated by occasional blasts of sex and violence. All involved offer up performances worthy of a substandard episode of "Silk Stalkings." To be fair, it would take an actor of highest caliber to sell lines like, "You're just like me — you get excited driving at night with the headlights off." Cain gives his character a square-jawed, clean-cut, Clark Kent appeal; but it would take Superman to save this movie, and there isn't a phone booth in sight. leave a comment --Scott Jacobson
