Tom Selleck plays Phil Blackwood, a best-selling author of pulp detective novels whose writer's block leads him to a courthouse, where he falls for Nina Ionescu (Paulina Porizkova), the mysterious, Romanian defendant in a murder case. In no time, Phil has set himself up as Nina's alibi and whisked her off to his country home in Connecticut.
