Shortly after a bitter argument with his rebellious teenage son -- the words "I wish you were dead" feature prominently -- pilot Jack Barnes (Dirk Benedict), who moved his family to Alaska after his wife's death, is lost in the wilderness with a shattered leg. The authorities quickly give him up for dead, leaving his plucky children (Vincent Kartheiser and Thora Birch) to strap on their backpacks and find him before it's too late. That's nothing compared to what's happened to Cubby: His mother's been killed by the evil Perry (Charlton Heston), whose sadistic sidekick taunts the orphaned youngster with his mom's head and pelt.
