Steven Spielberg inherited this thoughtful, sci-fi fairy tale from Stanley Kubrick, but it could just as well be an offshoot of Blade Runner. It's driven by the same fundamental question: How perfectly can we duplicate ourselves in synthetic beings before we must wonder what makes us human and them not?
