In a prolog set in Hungary (although actually filmed in New Jersey, an unlikely substitute to say the least), CIA boss David cuts a deal with Mafia man Pastore. In return for laundering mob money, David agrees to kill selected political figures on a CIA hit list. As a cover, a fake killing of David is rigged while the mobster hightails it to Italy. Ormeny, an innocent agent assigned to "assassinate" the gangster, gets fired as part of a cover-up and then sinks into unending self-pity. Years later David decides he wants to return to the US. He bumps off the men behind his fake death and then goes after Pope. There's not much to this cliched thriller, other than a compendium of stock situations. Actor Pastore was the film's producer as well as cowriter (with director Worswick). leave a comment
