This top-flight, though generally unheralded, Abbott and Costello comedy opens with the boys working in the book department of a large store. An attractive woman (Hillary Brooke) comes to their counter asking for an out-of-print tome titled
Dark Africa. To impress the lady, Abbott tells
her that his pal Costello was a personal friend of the author and is very knowledgeable about Africa. As a result, the duo are later kidnaped and taken to the Dark Continent, where they are expected to help the woman and her evil henchmen find a fortune in diamonds. The production offers plenty of
laughs, as the pair take great advantage of the African setting.
