1938, Movie, NR, 73 mins

To hype his scatterbrained client's flagging movie career, zany press agent dreams up a dozen screwball stunts to get her publicity, creating one trouble spot after another for Ball, including a stint in a female reformatory. The last stunt backfires when Ball is kidnaped by real gangsters and forced to be party to a crime. In the end she is vindicated and Hollywood does pay attention to her at last, with Oakie taking the bows for her notoriety. He and Ball are both very funny, as is Hall as an escaped lunatic playing a mogul, Feld as a megalomaniac foreign director too good to direct any Hollywood script, and Donnelly, the wise secretary who constantly gets Oakie and his clients out of trouble. This is a fast-paced film with plenty of laughs. leave a comment
