Packed with charm and warm family appeal, this film has Young as a youthful minister whose daughter, Temple, undergoes the painful and delightful (depending upon your perspective) transition from teenager to young woman: in a splendid waltz contest scene where she dances with her proud father, in another scene where Young chastises her for spreading rumors, and in a speech she delivers to stoic parishioners, one prepared by suitor Agar (her real-life husband), wherein she shockingly, for that day, changes it into a women's rights diatribe. A consistently pleasing film. leave a comment
