Very funny film about a company of Union Army misfits during the Civil War with Douglas as the hard-headed, by-the-book commanding officer and Ford as his frustrated second-in-command. The bumbling men go through impossible antics, including an attack against Confederate troops without guns (they wind up hurling rocks at their foes). Stevens plays a sexy shady lady working for madam Blondell but she is really a Southern spy. Veteran western director Marshall does a nice job with the sprightly script. leave a comment
