Fast action, numerous gun battles and scores of bodies toppling from galloping horses don't pull this south-of-the-border oater above the average. Grimaldi's formula is the same as with his previous SABATA, only Brynner subs for Lee Van Cleef, a soldier of fortune dressed in the traditional black. He is joined by an American sharper and a Mexican bandit and his henchmen to filch a gold shipment from the short-termed Emperor Maximillian to finance Juarez's revolution.
