This virtual tour of New York City ably exploits the potential of the IMAX process, but it's more like a theme park presentation than a feature film. An 11-year-old Russian boy (Peter Reznik) retraces the footsteps of an ancestor who immigrated to New
York at the turn of the century, providing a flimsy narrative framework for a series of amazingly crisp 3-D visuals of the city. It's a glitzy travelogue that pretends to be "educational," but its notions of New York City, both past and present, are superficial and slavishly flattering.
