Pasolini's first feature is a classic neorealist study of the Roman underworld of poverty and petty thievery. Accattone (Citti), a street youth who hates work, falls in love with Stella (Pasut) and attempts to find a job, but ultimately turns to crime. The film is based on Pasolini's own novel and supposedly mirrors his own experiences. The director uses nonprofessional actors to create a vivid portrait of an unremittingly grim environment. leave a comment
