Abilene Town

Fast-paced actioner has Randolph Scott again donning the thumb-worn marshal's badge to clean up an end-of-the-trail cow town overrun with callous cattle barons and grim gunslingers, not dissimilar to the tales spun in VIRGINIA CITY and DODGE CITY. Scott is a Wyatt Earp-type lawman who slugs and shoots it out with the likes of Jack Lambert while Buchanan, the local sheriff, follows his own stereotype into drunken stupors. The good woman is played demurely by Rhonda Fleming while the wicked lady of the saloons is Ann Dvorak who shakes a mean leg and sings such ditties as "Every Time I Give My Heart," "All You Gotta Do," and "I Love It out Here in the West."
