Tedious historical drama set in 1654 where Ullman as Queen Christina ponders the problems of becoming a Catholic and losing her throne after traveling to Rome where she becomes enamored of a cardinal played by Finch. The viewer is not drawn in sympathy to her royal dilemma nor offered even a
momentary respite from the film's onsession with historical arcana. Michael Dunn, a talented actor, died during this production and his replacement in the dwarf's role is noticeably different in manner and size. A better presentation of similar material can be seen in Greta Garbo's QUEEN
CHRISTINA.
