Before Vietnam became the fury of a generation and the subject of countless condemning films, A YANK IN VIET-NAM was simply a topical war film just as A YANK IN KOREA had been a few years earlier. Thompson stars as a Marine whose helicopter is shot down by the Viet Cong. He is safely escorted out of enemy territory by a group of guerrillas, saves a prisoner of war along the way, and falls in love with the prisoner's daughter. A rather simple-minded and tedious effort. leave a comment
