A Town Like Alice

A dark story based on Nevil Shute's novel that tells the story of a group of women and children forced to march through Malaya by the Japanese in WW II. As the women keep moving on, Finch, an Australian POW, and McKenna cross paths repeatedly and become friends. He tells her he will get the women a chicken for the next day's meal but is caught and is sentenced to be crucified. During the pair's friendship, Finch has told McKenna about his hometown--Alice Springs--and McKenna keeps dreaming about it to keep herself going.
