A Night Of Magic

Griffith has a dream about receiving an Egyptian mummy from his uncle. The 3,000-year-old bundle awakes, proving to be Olive, a partymad Egyptian princess. After doing up old London Town, Olive takes her new guy back to her time so he can see that the ancient Egyptians also knew how to throw a party. Though this is an imaginative idea that brims with all sorts of comic possibilities, the treatment here is simplistic and below par. Rather than contrast historical periods and personalities, the filmmakers have simply tossed together a musical revue with little wit or professionalism to speak of.
