This Soviet farce on superstitious peasant life is a light-hearted combination of the devil's mischief, witchcraft, and blind love. The devil, Millyar, doesn't want Tavrov to marry the blacksmith's daughter, Myznikova, because he can't stand Tavrov's religious paintings. So he does whatever
