A fairly accurate telling of the Pat Garrett/Billy the Kid story, this time by the Italians (the film's title was an obvious attempt to capitalize on the success of the Sergio Leone/Clint Eastwood westerns). The paths of the"Kid" (Lawrence) and Garrett (Tozzi) cross in their youth, and
they become friends. Eventually, after Lawrence has developed an infamous reputation as a robber and killer, Garrett, now a lawman, must track him down and bring him to justice. When Tozzi finally tracks Lawrence down he is able to convince the young killer to change his ways, but it is too late;
soon afterward the kid is gunned down by a rival (in real life, Garrett killed the Kid)....
