Lacking excitement, this complicated satirical film falls a bit flat. The three main characters--senator Ameche, judge Zimbalist, Jr., and shady district attorney Kelly--all have hopes of becoming governor. But the careers of all three are jeopardized by a murder case in which they become
involved. In the end, Ameche dies of a heart attack, the voters discover that Kelly is really a louse, and Zimbalist, Jr., wins by a landslide. Dickinson is mere leg dressing, as usual.
