A boy and a dog story that didn't exactly click, although the book was a classic. Belgian boy Thomas finds a sick dog and nurses it back to health. He is also involved with a young girl and is desperately trying to win an art contest. The triad of factors should have led to a whopping good
film, but poor directing and slow timing made it unsuccessful. The first filming of the famous tale by Ouida was made with Jackie Coogan in 1924, and a much better version was made in 1959 with David Ladd.
