A Day Will Come

During the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, Borsche is a German soldier who kills a French officer. Stricken with guilt, he goes through the man's pockets and learns his name. Later while going through a French village, he sees the man's name on a door. Knocking, he finds Dagover and daughter Schell awaiting the return of the dead soldier. Dagover thinks that Borsche looks like her son, so she asks him to stay. Schell and Borsche fall in love, and he tells her that he killed her brother. Schell begs him not to to tell the now-dying Dagover and later convinces him to put on her dead brother's uniform and go to Dagover's bedside. Minutes later he goes out on the street, ...
