Police inspector Delon, who achieves results by treating suspects brutally, abuses a penniless transvestite informer, the victim of a courageous act rather than false information, during an intercut of a bank holdup. The leader of the thieves, curiously, is a friend of Delon, creating a sort of mirror image of crook and cop. They finally have it out, with the cop winning.
