Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder is the latest performer to join Tim Burton's upcoming film Frankenweenie, Deadline.com reports.

The 38-year-old actress will provide the voice for the role of Elsa in the feature film adaptation of Burton's 1984 short film. Ryder will star alongside Martin Landau, Martin Short and Catherine O'Hara.

The project marks Ryder and Burton's first collaboration since 1990, following Beetlejuice and Edwards Scissorhands.

Frankenweenie, written by frequent Burton collaborator John August (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride), follows a pet owner who brings his dead dog back to life after he's hit by a car.

Walt Disney Pictures is set to release the film in March 2012.

Ryder will next be seen in the ballet drama Black Swan, which hits theaters in December.
