VIDEO: Star Trek's Kirk Salutes "Incredible" Cast
Count Chris Pine among those who simply cannot wait for J.J. Abrams' take on a Star Trek origins film to hit theaters. "I'm about as patient as an 8-year-old on Christmas Day," Pine, who plays a young James T. Kirk in the film, tells TVGuide.com.
Star Trek, after being originally pegged for a Christmas 2008 release, now will swoop into your Cineplex on May 9.
Pine goes on to tout the new Trek's ensemble, from "crew members" Anton Yelchin (aka Chekov) and Zoe Saldana (Uhura) to big baddie Eric Bana. "It's just an extraordinary cast," he raves.
As for what J.J. Abrams brought to the table as director, Pine hails the Lost cocreator's "great spirit" and "wonderful energy." Ultimately, though, he concedes that "people will judge for themselves" if the prequel to the TV series is worthy.
