Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen proved to be an unstoppable machine at the box office: The sequel raked in $112 million over the weekend, bringing its five-day total to $201.2 million.

The monster haul narrowly falls short of The Dark Knight's five-day gross of $203.8 million last summer, which remains the biggest five-day gross of all time.

Transformers did set some records of its own: Its weekend haul is the biggest opening of the year — easily eclipsing the $85.1 million opening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine — and it's the first film of 2009 to break the triple-digit barrier in its debut weekend.

Falling back to second was The Proposal, which added $18.5 million to bring its two-week total to $69.1 million. The Hangover held on for third with $17.2 million. The surprise blockbuster now stands at $183.2 million.

Up landed in fourth place with $13 million, which pushed it past Star Trek as 2009's top-grossing film with $250.2 million. Star Trek dropped one place to eighth with $3.6 million for a cumulative gross of $246.2 million.
